Different users have different experiences and comfort levels in using contemporary web applications. We've observed this effect to be even more pronounced in the national security community, where a significant portion of the users don't use consumer social tools like Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter at home. What's comfortable and intuitive for one user can be bewildering for another, especially one whose experience is largely based on desktop/transactional applications or web site navigation. That's why Yakabox gives you three ways to engage your users - from fully COTS to fully custom to somewhere in the middle.

Custom Mission Apps

Best for	Specific mission scenarios with customized user interface requirements.
User interface	Fully custom. Looks exactly the way you envision.

Chances are no COTS is going to solve your challenge out of the box, because your mission has some specialized needs. But Yakabox probably has a good portion of the key infrastructure features you can use to "back-end" your solution. You can build the front end in whatever environment works best for the user experience you envision - custom web pages, Ozone widgets, or mobile devices. Then use our web services APIs to tap into your Yakabox appliance or cloud services, using as few or as many of the features needed. Chances are this is the quickest path to bring your concept to reality because your solution looks exactly like you envision - but you don't have to re-invent the hard stuff like security or SeeAlsos or social features or search or scalability to go live. We can help as little or as much as you want, from simply training your tech team, to integrating with the custom front end (and/or legacy systems) you build, to building the entire solution for you.

Yakabox Activity Viewer

Best for	Power users or mature installs with multiple use cases running on platform.
User interface	Fully COTS. Powerfully efficient navigation based on modern social concepts, recognized by industry analysts for intuitive design.

The Activity Viewer becomes the place your power users live everyday. Your knowledge driven organization can literally run your operations from it. Of course, we deploy it with your logos and color themes, but otherwise it's out of the box and ready to go. Your power users will find this the most efficient way to work as you've started driving some adoption and wiring in some mission processes. Users will stay current with everything happening in their universe of interest and start to contribute more and more of what they know. The more teams and apps they join, the more powerful it gets.

If your users are already using Facebook or something similar, they'll pick our Activity Viewer interface up with no training - in fact, industry analysts recognize Yakabox's intuitiveness as a key strength. Candidly, if your users aren't using social tools at home, it will probably take them a while to wrap their heads around Activity Viewer. Easing those users into the platform through Pages or a custom mission app may be a quicker path to adoption.

Yakabox Pages

Best for	Casual users inside or outside the organization; users unfamiliar with contemporary social or object based UI concepts.
User interface	Custom configured. Web page/portal style navigation gives users a "place" to gather everything related to specific missions, topics, or projects.

Yakabox includes a Page builder you can use to custom configure web pages for sharing information inside or outside the organization. You can start with templates to maintain a standard look and feel if you prefer. Then our drag and drop Page tool allows you to dynamically draw content or activity from the repository along with static content. Users with permission can add content to the repository right in place. Best of all, you can expose all the social features (comments, activity, SeeAlsos) in a familiar webpage navigation construct - without having to worry about security. Users can only see the content (documents, blog entries, etc) they are allowed to see, no matter where they are looking. This is effective for sharing mission or project or topical information with other stakeholders outside the organization. But it's also a great approach for users inside the organization who don't have much experience with modern social platforms; it looks and feels and navigates like a web pages, but with the richness of PL3 plus Annex E accredited security, SeeAlsos, fully integrated search, and more.
